Brooke and Kate are both taking a Wednesday night class at church. Kate's is very sweet, basic bible stuff mixed with playtime and snacks. Brooke's class is awesome. It prepares the kids for middle school and hopefully some of the choices they may be faced with soon. The focus right now is on responsibility and respect. The best part? They have homework each week to complete. The first week they had to make their bed every week and write a letter to a person of authority. Brooke chose the president of the United States. I am going to share the letter with you:
Dear Mr. President
Thank you for serving this county (pretty sure she meant country). At school we got to vote and I voted for you. I respect you for who you are. My mom and dad voted for John McCain but I voted for you. Tell Malia Ann hi and send a letter!
Love, Brooke
age 10
I am sure Mr. Obama will love this letter - I can see the return letter now.
Dear Brooke,
Thanks for voting for me in your school election; however, that did not count. Your parents vote would have. Please tell them HAHA, I was elected anyway with 51% of the vote without their sorry-a$$ votes!
Sincerely,
-B
I haven't mailed the letter yet but found her yesterday looking through the OKC phonebook. After 30 minutes, i finally said, what are you doing?? She replied, "i am looking for Barack Obama's address!: Sarcastic momma asked her if she was looking under the B's or the O's. The O's,duh! she replied. Hmmm, the O's in the Oklahoma City phone book?? "Oh." was all she could say. hehehe

that's just too cute Jennifer! Sounds like a great class...anything you can do to prepare them for middle school is a step in the right direction!
