You know every once in a while I have to ask myself, why are we doing this. Why do we want to adopt a child? It is really an easy question to answer - there are so many. I love J so much and want to raise a child with him. I feel like we both have so much love to give. We both want to teach him/her things. Jay wants to teach him/her soccer. I want to teach him/or to appreciate reading and writing and how to express their creative side. We want to teach finanical responsibility and respect for others. We want to watch a child of ours grow into a responsible adult. We want grandchildren. Of course, we have that with Brooke but it is so hard because we get just a fraction of all of that. Don't get me wrong, we are thankful for every blessed minute with her. This Memorial Day weekend kind of makes me sad - I am coming to really not like holidays. Things just haven't been the same since my parents divorce - everyone has turned into their own little family which is great but for some reason, I feel lonely. Probably mostly because Brooke is in Oklahoma this weekend. Every time I think of something fun to do - I feel guilty because I want Brooke here to share it with! PLUS - she has a new "rule" for J & I.........no fun when she is not here. We are only "allowed" to clean the house and go to the grocery store. We can't have Chinese food, we can't go to the mall, we can't see our friends or her friends, we can't go swimming and we certainly can't make "hotdogs that do thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssss." We try the best we can but what can I say - sometimes, we have to have some fun too!

So last night, me, Jay and Gordie all attended the first official "Yappy Hour." It was held in a warehouse in the art district and is a fundraiser for the Humane Society. They had a full bar for the owners and arts & crafts, swimming pools and homemade snacks for the pups! It was HOT but fun. Here is pic of J & Gordie at the event.
Here is a piece of "art" created by Goobie. It is entitled, "think paws-itive" and yes, I plan on matting it and framing it and hanging it proudly in my dining room. I was going to save it to give to Jay for Father's day but guess now the jig is up!
Pretty good, huh? Goobie had a lot of fun - met some new friends, sniffed some new butts, swam a little, enjoyed his snack and arts & crafts time. By the time we got home he was so tired, he grabbed his favorite toy newspaper (he takes after me), and went to bed. He fell asleep with it in his mouth.
We REALLY need a baby.
