Picture Perfect Day!

When I was a working mom, I dreaded school holidays! They really make it tough especially when they are almost back to back! As a stay at home mom, i love them! A couple of weeks ago they cancelled school due to cold weather. As you can imagine if it was cold enough to cancel school it was definitely too cold to do anything but hang out around the house and there are only so many games you can play before a three year old loses interest! Trust me, it happens fast! So when MLK day rolled around yesterday, i was beyond excited about the fact that it was going to be about 60degrees! Unheard of for January in Oklahoma. The girls and i got up, picked up the house and headed out for fun!
We decided to pack a picnic lunch and take it to the park! Yummy fried chicken, potato wedges and fresh fruit - yum! yum!
Kate picked out an apple that was as big as her head!

Kate is a very feisty three year old. She has a ton of energy and is very headstrong making some days ummmm challenging. But when she is loving, this girl has the biggest heart i have seen! She will randomly crawl up in my lap and say, "momma, i just want to love on you a little bit." I love those moments and can't get enough. yesterday, she was wanted to love on Sissy a little bit. While we were enjoying our picnic lunch she looked at her sister and said, "Sissy, I love you bigger than muffins!"

Nothing makes me happier than to see this wonderful relationship develop! People question me all the time about their age gap. I used to want to fill it in but now I realize that with the two of them, they have each other and are best of friends without someone in between them! As a matter of fact, before we went to the park, while i was picking up, the girls made their first fort! Check it out!

Kate thought it was soooo hilarious that it said no moms allowed!!

We ended up spending FOUR hours at the park just playing and walking around the lake - it was such a beautiful day!

After the park, i took the girls out for ice cream - just doesn't get any better than that! We got home about 5pm and it was still pretty and light outside so we decided it was time to try out Kate's new bike that Santa brought. The girls rode up and down the block while i ran along side them giving Kate pushes when needed!

I am so thankful to have this opportunity to be home with my girls. I can't believe it has almost been a year. This fall Miss Kate will be in pre-K at Brooke's big girl school and I will be back to work. This year has had it's ups and downs and lately, financially it has been a struggle but I keep reminding myself this is time I would never get back. Are there any sacrifices too big to make for our children? Although my time at home with her is coming to an end soon, I will never forget what an amazing gift I have been given and just because I won't be with her every moment, there will be many more picture perfect days ahead!

Jennifer, I know I've commented before about enjoying your kids while they are young! They grow up soooo fast! I am so glad that you got to spend this time at home with them. You will cherish it the rest of your life!
