You might remember the girls and I decided to create our first vegetable garden this summer. We got a little bit of a late start and it wasn't easy getting a patch of ground ready but we did it and created a little vegetable garden near the shed in the backyard. I wanted to do a salsa garden with tomatoes and peppers plus yummy green and yellow squash for grilling. The girls wanted to do watermelon and pumpkins. I don't know if it's the heat or the location or what, but things have been off to a slow slow start. I finally have ONE tomato on the vine - while my dad has brought me literally dozens! I also have one tiny zucchini - pathetic! BUT..Iam happy to report that the watermelon is really taking off - i bet we have about 7 on the vine! They are tiny but seem to be growing well! Brooke and i go check on them, water them and talk to them everyday. We might just have to open a roadside watermelon stand - we are so proud of the little guys, you don't think $50 each is too much to ask to you? Here is a pic of our largest melon! What a beauty, huh?

It's going to be another 105+ day - Leah and I are taking the kids to see Monsters vs Aliens at the dollar movies - hope their a/c is working better than last time i was there!
