I am extending a challenge to you bunny-conscious fellow bloggers. I know we are all busy - working, raising children, saving the world one blog at a time....yada, yada, yada but, we need to take time for ourselves and our relationships with our significant others. So, I am suggesting a challenge. The $20 date challenge. One couple, one night, 20 bucks. How much fun can you have? No Cheating - whether you are on a bunny or should be, part of the game and the fun is being creative and not going over your 20 dollars. I put Jay and myself up to the challenge Friday night. Here are the hilights!
First and foremost, free babysitting. A paid babysitter for the night and you can kiss that 20 spot goodbye! Luckily, we are near family again so Nan and Pop watched our girls for free!
Second, Jay found a coupon in a local entertainment paper - The Gazette. BOGO hambugers at Ron's Hamburgers and Chili - a fun quaint little burger joint we had never been to. We spent $12.50 on dinner which included 2 burgers, a large order of fries that we split and 2 yummy YUMMY frosted mugs of root beer with free refills!
We left a 3 dollar tip with brought our night's total to $15.50.
We had $4.50 left in our budget for the night. We opted for the "dollar movies" which is now actally $1.75 movies. 2 adult admissions at $1.75 each leaves ONE dollar in our 20 dollar budget.
We went and saw M. Night Shamalongadingdong's The Happening. Pretty good movie. Problem was during the movie, they had a/c problems in the theatre so by the end we were pretty hot! We ended up getting a full refund. SCORE!! With $4.50 left in our pocket we capped off the evening with $4.25 of Braum's ice cream. With one quarter left, we headed home. Afterall, there are still some things grown married adults can do at home when the kids are out........like go to bed early and get a good nights sleep. So we did.
Anyone want to take me up on the challenge???? I can't wait for our next attempt!

jon and i went to the warren theatre and saw the dark knight this weekend. our tickets were $7 each. it was fun because its a huge theatre and we were entertained by walking around and looking at everything. but i guess the $30 we spent at vzd's after the movie put us over the $20challenge. you and jay win... this time...
jen and jay - 1
wendie and jon - 0
$20 date challenge? What's a date? Oh yeah...it's been so long I almost forgot. We used to go out to eat once in a while and go to a movie, but I can't remember the last time we did. As soon as we're done with Brandon's move back to K-State, we'll work on this challenge.
You go girl!
Don't have any free babysitters so we are probably out of this challenge! Plus, I'm with Linda - what is a date? What a great idea though.
