And they said it wouldn't last....

Jay and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on Friday! We debated for weeks on how we would mark the occasion. We finally decided to have the girls spend the weekend with Jay's parents while we had some grown up alone time.
Friday i had a golf tournament so I knew i would probably be hot and tired by the time it was over. I was right. We ended up going to one of our favorite "old" restaurants - Cocina De Mino. We ate on the patio and it was fabulous. Very relaxing, great drinks yummy food!

After dinner we went and walked around NOrthpark Mall - debated about seeing a movie but they only take cash! Who has cash? Anyway, we searched the mall foutains for enough change to add to our $3.00 cash but by the time we found it, the movie had been playing for 20 minutes. We ended up going for a drive and somehow ended up at Lake Hefner. We parked and walked out to their little lighthouse. It was crazy but we had the entire place to ourself - we sat on the softest grass I have ever felt and watched this beautiful Oklahoma sunset! It was truly one of the most romantic moments of my life!

Saturday morning we slept in - it was awesome. Of course, even without kids we didn't get the bed alone - the dog and cat took advantage of the vacancy! We got up and went and had breakfast just the 2 of us. After breakfast, we went and checked into the skirvin hotel. It is absolutely gorgeous! We had reservations in bricktown at The Mantle at 6:30 so after some more "relaxing." We headed to the valet to get our car. We had the most amazing concierge. We told him what we are doing and said why bother with a car, it's your anniversary, let me get you a limo. I think our dwindling "bunny" both crossed jay and my mind. He went on to explain that it was courtesy of the hotel. SWEET! The limo picked us up and took us to bricktown. Jay and i did a little bar hopping, had some drinks and enjoyed each other's company!

When it was time for our reservation, we went to our restaurant. Let me just say, it was nothing that they had promised. When we made reservations they promised us a cozy quiet table, champagne waiting for us and everything we needed to make the perfect dinner. It wasn't even close! After very little debate, jay and i decided to leave. We called our limo driver and had him come pick us up. Jay called the restuarant hotel - we had heard raves but were skeptical about traditional hotel fare. Jay called and got us reservations, told them what happened and since we were guests of the hotel, they promised to accomodate us. 20 minutes later we pulled up to the hotel. The concierge greeted us, helped us out of the limo and escorted us to the restuarant - i felt so glamorous! We walked in and everyone said, happy anniversary! They had a beautiful table in the very back - very private with our oun personal waiter. There was champagne on the table for us, courtesy of the hotel and check this out!

I was blown away - even this cynical non-romantic was brought to tears! The dinner was equally impressive. We enjoyed their evening feature - maytag blue cheese encrusted filets. Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! It was multi-courses with an intermezzo palante cleanser - very fancy! The service was tremendous! PLus they comped us an appetizer and even arranged to have courtesy desserts sent to our room. I just can't say enough about this place. We dined for three luxurious hours!

After dinner, we were so satisfied by the meal and the champagne and the wine and the bar-hopping, we went upstairs and called it a night. However, 20 minutes later, our BFF's called - they were kidless for the night too! They met us at the hotel. These 2 peopls have been married 10 yrs also - jay and i have known them longer than we have known each other! They also think they are very funny! Rob walked in with a bakery box and said he got us a cake for our anniversary. Very sweet, right? I know him WAAAAAY better than that! It was a half eaten cake left out in the hall! Didn't keep everyone from eating it - and yes, it does say Class on '0 on it!

After the cake, we went downstair to the red piano lounge. We had some great drinks - we managed to avoid the $200.00 martini which was on the menu as well as the $36.00 margaritas! They were yummy but oh so pricey! Our sweet friends actually bought our drinks to "toast" our anniversary. Very very nice! After some drinks we wondered downtown! We stumbled on a either dead or sleeping homeless man. I wanted to play "the first 48" my new favorite crime show but i got freaked out when rob came screaming and running around the corner after me! Jay walked in a fountain and smoked a cigar while Leah searched in parking garages for an elusive band! I don't think any more detail is necessary. I will just leave you with some pics!

I am very lucky to be married to this hunk of a man!

ETA - My dear sweet hunk of a husband just informed me that he was NOT drunk last night. I enter these photos into evidence as exhibit A and exhibit B. You be the judge!
