FInally final

Well as of Friday, it is finally final - Kate is officially Katherine Faith Lacy. Even though Kate has been ours since birth, Oklahoma requires a 6 month wait before you can legally change her name and take final custody. It's kind of ironic because we had to assume the rights of natural parents which made me wonder what we were the last months when she was up every hour on the hour, peeing and pooping on us and least we forget throwing up everywhere! Seemed pretty natural-parent-like to me. :)

Brooke got to come with us and as very excited too. She did get a little nervous when they called her to the witness stand! She had to swear to keep her room clean and obey her parents. The judge also asked if she loved Kate and wanted her to be her sister. Pretty cool. I did freak out a little when the judge mentioned there was an addendum. Turns out our attorney had his own agenda! Actually, it is pretty cool - Kate is court ordered to listen to her parents, keep her room clean and always refer to her Aunt Bootsy and Uncle Mouse as her favorite aunt and uncle! It will actually be part of the court record so when Kate gets a little order we can actually tell her that not cleaning her room would make her in violation of a court order! Hmmmmmmmmmmm what a great bargaining chip, huh? Gotta love that!

So today is my first "official" Mother's Day. I have to say, it feels pretty good. It is nice not to have to share it. Kate and Jay have promised me breakfast in bed and a fun day. I did get a new pink Ralph Lauren overnightbag with matching make-up bags. I love them. I just wish I didn't have to use them this soon. I haven't mentioned this here but guess I will, Monday morning I have to check in to the hospital and will be having a complete hysterectomy. I REALLY have mixed feelings about this. Firt, it is major surgery witha 6-8 wk recovery time.Second, during this time, I can't lift anything including Kate for the first several weeks. I have put that child to bed in the same way, every night since she was born. I have been trying to prepare her but not sure she gets it. She might, she is pretty smart! I think later today, I will have to update you on all the things Miss Kate can do now but right now, it is 2am and I am tired plus I think I hear her squeaking in her crib. Guess I had better check! Happy Mother's day to all the fabulous mommys reading this!
