Telling Brooke

Well Friday night we finally told Brooke that she was going to have a little sister and soon. We took her to eat at her favorite restaurant, affectionately termed "the Chinese Place." We reminded her that we had been expecting a call and that the call finally came. She seemed pretty excited but really excited when we told her that it would probably be around her birthday (August 31st). I asked her if she wanted to know if she was getting a little brother or little sister. Of course, she did. I presented her a gift bag full of pink suckers that read, "It's a girl!" She just jumped into my arms and said, "my whole life I wished and wished for a baby sister and now my wish came true!" Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, such a great moment.

So this weekend she has really gotten into her babydolls again - so glad I didn't get rid of them when we cleaned out her room. She carried around 2 babies everywhere we went this weekend.

Oh and then she decided she needed to dress, "like a mom."

Hey that reminds me - I need to get some sequined gloves for diaper changing!

Probably the best part this weekend was when Brooke asked me if I think her sister will be her twin. I kinda looked puzzled for a moment not knowing how to respond. She went on to say that even though she is her twin she will probably just call her "sister" because it would sound funny to say and I quote, "hey twin." She asked if I was worried that I wouldn't be able to tell her and her twin sister Kate apart. I told her that I really think the 7 year age gap will help!

So I guess that is my weekend update. Tomorrow our birth mom has a doctor appointment so please think good thoughts - it has been a while since she has been. Our agency is going with her and hopefully will be getting us some ultrasound pictures - how exciting would that be???

Also, J & I are really starting to REALLY freak out about money so much so that I am having difficulty sleeping. We don't have all the money for the adoption and me being out on unpaid maternity leave for 8 weeks is going to make things really tough. But as I try to look on the bright side of things, last week I did manage to find a higly recommended (thanks Jenn!) Pediatrician and daycare so that makes me feel MUCH better. I always feel better when I have a plan.

Any good thoughts are STILL much appreciated. So far everything has worked out for the best - we just have to continue to have Faith.
