We have been working on our kitchen for so long and finally this weekend see some progress! When we moved in the kitchen had this striped green wall paper with sunflowers. Not exactly my taste. YUCK! We painted it right away - this deep purple color actually, it's called wild Cherry. For the longest time we have debated over every step - kitchens are so expensive to do. We decided to paint the cabinets this grey/silver creamy color and add silver hardware. J has been working on it for months and finally this weekend we have progress! It is actually all done except 3 bottom cabinets and they just need one more coat of paint and they will be ready to go up. You know even though it has taken so long I have to say what a great job he did - very professional. maybe even better. Here is a before picture:
Here is an after
and here is another
there is way too much stuff on my refrigerator right now - yikes! Time to clean! Speaking of cleaning I have lots to do. My in-laws are coming to spend the weekend with us so we can have our little Easter egg hunt and they are going to go to church with us. I am very excited although a little bit nervous about having such a house full! Plus, this will be the first time I am cooking a big holiday dinner for everyone. Oh well - I love this kind of stuff!
Back to my weekend - yesterday our good friends Mike & Debbie came to visit. We are so excited that they are moving to Kansas! They just bought a house in Abilene, KS about an hour north of here - woohoo!!! We have been friends with them so long - it will be great to have them so close. They brought their adorable son Carter so we got to play a little with him. It made me once again realize just how sure I am about this adoption. I can't wait to have a little one around here all the time. J is sooo great with babies - they just love him! Check out this adorable picture.
This is definitely one for the adoption album! I think I mentioned that we have to put together a family album - kind of a scrapbook - of photos for our agency to show to prospective birth mothers. We will learn how to do more of it at our seminar in June. I have read that you should take lots of pics with kids (relatives and children of close friends) just so the parents can see how you interact with children! I think this is a great shot - they both look so happy! It will definitely make the book!
So other that using our friends baby for posed photo opps, we had a great visit. J cooked out pork chops and I made my famous aphrodisiac salad (aaron and shell I am sure you remember that, right?) It was so yummy! Jay made cherry cobbler with Breyer's homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert - it was quite the treat. Jay and I gave up ice cream (we were eating it way too often) for lent and have been substituting non-fat vanilla yogurt (not even the frozen kind) with granola. I savored every last bite but managed to keep myself from licking the bowl - good thing we had company!
SO now it is Monday and I have a busy, busy week. I have 2 sections pressing this Friday (which means I am really busy and running behind). PLUS the big Easter weekend coming up with my in-laws! So much to do - so little time. Little Caesar's Pizza is traditional Easter dinner fare, right?

Hey, I'm cooking Easter dinner for the first time, too! Are you doing a ham? I'm kind of nervous about that. I think I'm most excited about this carrot cake recipe I found, though... it's all about the dessert, right?
Anyway, glad you guys had a good weekend!
Hey Jenn, can you send me the recipe for that aphrodisiac salad sometime? I've really been cravin' it! heh heh
