Well we sprang forward this weekend and I am already feeling it. It gets harder and harder each year. We made it to church yesterday though which I was really proud of because i think that changing the clocks would have been an easy excuse for missing. For some reason, Brooke wouldn't go up for the childrens lesson alone. She started crying in the aisle until I went up with her. I was so embarrassed - there I am, sitting on the steps of the alter surrounded by 2-10yr olds. Afterwards the kids have a choice to go to "Godly play" or back to their seats. Well, Brooke decided she wanted to play but wanted me to go with her. She started crying again (isn't 6 a little too old to cry like that and too young to blame hormones!) when I wouldn't go. So literally, in front of God and everybody we talked/argued about it. I guess play time won - she left me to go play leaving me to walk down the aisle by myself while everybody stared. No wonder she didn't want to go up by herself - it was embarrassing. Next time maybe I will go to Godly play. Then, after the service we went to pick her up - we thought she was in the nursery but nope we couldn't find her. We go to a huge church and had to split up and search the place. Finally I see her coming downstairs with her Sunday School Teacher - what a relief! Here is a pic of her church art: Notice the straws taped with painters tape. Nice, huh? Oh and there are bells taped on there also so it is not only nice to look at, it makes noise too!
We also found an Easter dress this weekend.
We shopped for hours and ended up going back and buying the very first one we tried on! AUGH! She kept picking out dresses that were a little too "grown-up!" I can tell next year is going to be even more difficult. She is only six - but she thinks she is 16. We can't find her shoes from Aunt Megans wedding so I have to go buy another pair of $20.00 shoes she will wear one time! I don't know why I don't let her go barefoot like she wants to - it would be way cheaper.
We also checked out a couple of lakes on Sunday hoping to find a great hidden spot to go camping with some friends in a couple of weeks but no such luck. The lakes are so far down and just look trashy - maybe it will be better once the grass is green and their are some leaves on the trees. Plus, we saw a possum and an armadillo
and some guineas. That is too much wildlife for me! Last time we went camping with these friends we had a skunk come visit us every night maybe we should just find a nice Holiday Inn with an indoor pool and hottub! Hmmmmmm....
SO that was my weekend - time to get back to work! Happy Monday everybody!
