Has it really been a week...

since my last post. I have been so busy since we have been back from vacation and yet I still feel like I haven't got anything done. I do have a good reason....I joined a band. A rock band. I'm a drummer. A fabulous drummer. More to follow.

Anyway, i guess i need to update the rest of the trip to Texas. We went to Hell's gate where I, swimming in 65ft of water just off the cliffs, was bit by an endangered animal! The Brazos River Snake. Oh yes, I was bit by a snake. The boat was half way across the lake and i was holding Kate, who I nicknamed Superglue during this trip because she was constantly glued to my hip! I went into serious panick mode. It was NOT good! I finally got in the boat and it didn't look too bad. It is a non venomous snake but it was pretty much my worse fear (other than something happening to my kiddos) realized.

Luckily that same night we had the talent show and drink off. I am happy to report we had 100% participation in the talent show from bad steardesses being arrested by rogue cops, to gay men playing straight, to stand up comedy, several songs, inlucluding an Aria in Italian and of course, Jay drinking a gallon of water in 10 seconds flat! Yes, it was quite the show! Here are some pics. Oh, I was emcee by the way and also did a dramatic reading of a story I wrote when i was seven!

This lovely family spelled out Possum Kingdom using only their Booties! Histerical!

I am happy to report our branch of the Vaughn family won the drink contest (really no surprise there)! We invented the BoBo bomber - a tribute to Jay's grandfather and the head of the Vaughn Clan who passed away a couple of years ago. It was a shot where you had to lick your hand with sugar, drink the shot and then suck on an orange slice candy (bobo's favorite!) We had a little help from a friend and everyone also got a lei in this truly interactive drink experience!

We ended up leaving a day early and spending a couple of days in Wichita Falls. I will have to post about that later - got some great pics of the girls at the Falls. Tonight Brooke is cheering for the first time at an arena football game - she has been at cheer camp all day! I have to go get her all super cute and ready! You know there will be plenty of pics to come!

Snake bite? That is a nightmare! Glad he wasn't a poisonous snake, but my gawd, that had to suck!
