Yesterday, February 1st, was Jay's birthday. I would have posted yesterday but crazy me decided to throw a little birthday party for him after work. I had intitally plnned on cooking but ended up ordering pizza and baking cupcakes - much much easier but still fun. I think the party was a big success. We had about 15 people over, all family. It ended up being a big Wii-fest! The girls and I bought Jay a Wii sports pack complete with tennis racket, golf club and baseball bat - it was a big hit (pun intended!)
The last guest left around 9:30 this morning (draven spent the night.) I think everyone had a great time. I know we did.
Today, Jay, Brooke, Kate and I are speaking at an adoption seminar. We are on a panel of "experts" and get to share our story to prospective adoptive families. We are all excited. Brooke has decided that she is "half adopted." Works for me. I figure if I have a child who wants to be considered adopted,I must be doing something right when it comes to educating my actual adopted child on adoption. I give lots of credit to Jamie Lee Curtis' book "Tell Me Again about the Night I was Born." We read it over and over filling in the blanks with Kate's actual birth story. Brooke wants me to do it for her and I am happy to oblige - it is a little bit harder butshe is happy which makes me happy.
Tonight we have some friends from Wichita coming in to see us - definitely excited about that. It I can get rid of this stinkin cold, I NEED to go see my niece! I miss her. She is doing so well. For those who are curious and want to follow her story check out my sister's blog.

Happy b-day, Jay!
Do you all have the "Little Miss Spider" book? We like that one a lot.
tell jay we said happy birthday!
that sounds like so much fun to have spoken at the adoption thing. you and jay seem like the perfect parents, i know that brooke and kate will have everything they need and i know that you will always show and give them nothing but the best of you.
so will there be another addition to the lacy family soon, or are you two still trying to decide?...
