SO we finally had our big moving sale. The weather guys were predicting 100+days for both days and it was H-O-T-T! We had some great deal - low prices on nice nice stuff - we advertised both days in the paper and had a lot of sign. We sold NICE clothes - some of them brand new and still ended up with LOTS left over. We took 36 boxes to the DAV and still have a garage full. Plus we didn't make THAT much money. But when you are selling almost everything for 50cents each, i guess it takes a lot.
Brooke did awesome! We gave her the option of finishing out the week at camp or staying for the garage sale and having a lemonade, rootbeer and water stand. She made $26.00! She was such a great sales person. Se would immediately ask as soon as someone stepped onto the driveway, "would you like something to drink - water, rootbeer, lemonade." A lot of the time they would politely smile and say, "ahhh no thanks sweetie." Now most kids would leave it there. Heck, I probably would have but not my Brookie. She followed up with, " oh ok, i am just trying to buy some school clothes and a present for my dog. Oh yeah - worked almost everytime!!!
Uncle Mikey came over on Friday and paid her to wash his truck. She washed and scubbed and hosed it down. He paid her ONE dollar. I think she has a secret crush on Mikey but HEY who doesn't? She did tell him that she couldn't be HIS girlfriend because she was already his son's girlfriend. Ummmm ok, his son is almost 6 years younger than her now that i think about it, it is the same age difference between me and Jay. Of course Carter is 2 yrs old! Oh well, guess she is just like her momma!
Oh there was one garage sale hi-lite I left off. We had a visitor from Tibet! She was visiting her daughter and was dressed in layers of long sleeves and a long black dress - she spoke only Tibetan which i have to confess, didn't even know it was a language. SHe was really taken with Brooke because Brooke kept trying to sell her something to drink. Brooke kept asking and the lady would shake hr head and say, "huh?" Brooke kept repeating first louder then slower and louder. I finallytold Brooke that she didn't speak English but brooke felt the need to slow down and try one more time. Oh did i mention the woman was atleast 100 yrs old??? Anyway, the woman went to the car and brought Brooke some candy from Tibet. It was pretty cool - mine was good. Brooke ate the one called "white rabbit." hmmmm maybe not a good idea but it sure was Tastey!
