Weekend update

Less than a week now and I have to go back to work. Kate and I talked about it a lot today and she really doesn't want me to. I tried to explain than when I go back to work, we can do more shopping and fun stuff and it means a lot more new clothes. That seemed to make her feel better. She has been so clingy today. Or maybe it was me, I am not sure. She sleeps great in my arms but every time I try to lay her down she wakes up. I pick her up, she goes back to sleep. I pretend to be annoyed but secretly I love it. She is getting less and less fragile feeling everyday and her head control is getting so much better. She is also smiling soooooo much. She thinks I am very funny.

Last Friday we had a little min-family fun day (brooke was still in school.) Jay, Kate and I went to the pumpkin patch at church. Here are some pics I took.

Friday evening we had our first post-placement visit. For the next 6 months, we will have a social worker come and check on us, our house and Kate. Just to make sure we are being the good parents we promised to be. Everything went fine - no problems. 2 more visits and then we will go back to court to finalize the adoption.
Saturday we went to OK to help my dad move into his new house. It is really nice and in a great neighborhood not far from Lake Hefner. It was good to see everybody again. We are getting A LOT of pressure to move back to OK but so far, Jay and I are holding strong! Here is a pic of my dad and Kate.
All the cousins came over to see Papa and to play at his new house. It is so funny, they want nothing to do with Kate at all. I loved babies when I was little but these kids...not so much. Brooke was good with her though. She took a little time out from playing with the other kids to play with Kate. Here is a pic of my girls. How sweet is this???
My mom is coming up Thursday morning and leaving Saturday morning. I know she is looking forward to it and so am I. She has offered to get up and take care of Kate in the middle of the night which would mean that Kate would probably sleep in her own room and my mom too. Not sure about that....guess we will have to wait and see.

Jay just reminded me a Brooke story I forgot to share. Last weekend we were having breakfast in OKC and this woman came up and was saying how cute Kate was and really made a fuss. She finally looked up and acknowledged Brooke and said, "Awww she looks just like you." Brooke looked so puzzled and then said, "She's not my baby - I'm just a children!" hehehe
